Nexavar is used for treatment of advanced renal cell cancer, thyroid cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma. The recommended dose is 400 mg a day, but you should consult your Doctor on this matter. The tablets should be taken twice a day not later than 1 h before or 2 h after eating. Treatment should be continued as long as the patient is clinically benefiting from therapy. The patient should stop treatment in case of unacceptable toxicity. Dose should be modified for suspected adverse drug reactions.
If you have any allergies tell your health care professional about it before taking Nexavar. If you have signs of an allergic reaction ask for medical help. Also, show the Doctor your medical history to prevent fast/irregular heartbeat, fainting or severe dizziness during the course of treatment. Inform your Doctor about all medications you take including vitamins, prescriptions, over-the-counter drugs and herbal products because side effects may occur as a result of the interaction between the drugs. Nexavar should not be taken during pregnancy by any of parents because it may cause birth defects. Breastfeeding is not acceptable during the treatment. Use contraceptives while taking the drug. If you plan dental work, immunization, vaccination or a surgery, warn the specialists in advance that you are taking Nexavar. To prevent the spread of infections wash your hands thoroughly. To lower the chance of getting injured or cut, be caution using sharps, also avoid contact sports. Stop using Nexavar and immediately contact your medical advisor or call emergency service in case of any of these side effects: severe pain in your chest, back, neck or jaw, rapid heartbeat, anxiety, cold sweating, shortness of breath, fever over 100.4° F (38° C). The following effects do not require immediate medical help, but you should contact your Doctor within 24 hours: blisters, rash, sores in the mouth, pale skin, troubles with concentration, dry cough or coughing up blood, wheezing in throat, sickness, sweating, easy skin bruising, bleeding, red or purple pinpoint spots under the skin, permanent fatigue, any kind of problems with stool, unusual feeling in your palms or feet.
